NTE Combat Guide — Master the Battle System

NTE uses a real-time action combat system with dodge mechanics, character switching, skill combos, and elemental interactions. Understanding the type system and team building is essential for clearing endgame content.

Combat Basics

Normal Attack

Chain up to 5 hits by tapping the attack button. Different weapons have different combo strings.

Skill

Press the skill button for a powerful ability with a short cooldown. Each character has a unique skill.

Ultimate

Charge your ultimate gauge through combat, then unleash a devastating ultimate ability.

Dodge & Counter

Time your dodge perfectly to trigger a slow-motion effect and a powerful counter-attack window.

Esper Types (6 Types)

Every character in NTE has an Esper Type that determines their damage element. See the full character list for type-specific builds.

Cosmos

Cosmic energy attacks. Versatile and well-rounded, effective against most enemy types. Strong in both single-target and AoE scenarios.

Anima

Primal life force attacks. Excels at sustained DPS with rapid strikes. Benefits from attack speed buffs and extended engagements.

Incantation

Arcane magic attacks. Masters of AoE damage and battlefield control through powerful zones and debuffs.

Psyche

Mental energy attacks. Primarily support and healing focused, but can deal respectable damage through counter-attack mechanics.

Chaos

Entropy and destruction attacks. Specializes in debuffing enemies and detonating marks for burst damage. Self-sufficient sustain.

Lakshana

Quantum energy attacks. High mobility hit-and-run combat style with stacking damage bonuses that reward aggressive play.

Arc Types (5 Types)

Arc Types determine how a character's damage scales and what kind of combat bonuses they receive. Each character has both an Esper Type and an Arc Type.

Solid

Direct, physical damage enhancement. Boosts raw damage output and is most common on melee DPS characters.

Plasma

Energy-based damage amplification. Enhances elemental effects and provides consistent damage over time.

Gas

Area effect and debuff enhancement. Extends the reach and potency of skills, ideal for AoE-focused builds.

Liquid

Fluid combat mechanics. Provides dodge bonuses and counter-attack enhancements, rewarding skilled play.

Synthesis

Support and healing amplification. Boosts shields, healing, and buff durations for team-oriented characters.

Team Composition

NTE parties consist of 4 characters. A well-built team covers DPS, sustain, and synergy:

One Main DPS

Designate one character as your primary damage dealer. Build them first and surround them with supports.

Match Esper Types

Some modules and buffs only affect specific Esper Types. Building a team around 2 Esper Types maximizes synergy.

Include a Shielder/Healer

Fadia (Psyche) is a free S-Rank tank. Include at least one sustain character for challenging content.

Consider Arc Type Synergy

Arc Types determine how your damage scales. Pair characters with complementary Arc Types for combo effects.

Elemental Coverage

Diverse Esper Types let you handle different enemy weaknesses. Avoid a team of all one type.

Module System Overview

Modules are the equipment system in NTE. Each character equips multiple modules that provide stat bonuses and set effects. Modules drop from domain challenges and can be enhanced with Fons and materials.

Module Stats

  • Main stat: Fixed per module slot (ATK%, HP%, DEF%, etc.)
  • Substats: Random rolls at acquisition; up to 4 substats
  • Enhancement: +0 to +15, improving main stat and rolling substats

Set Bonuses

  • 2-piece: Stat bonus (e.g., +15% ATK)
  • 4-piece: Unique effect tied to the module set
  • Mix-and-match: 2+2 setups are common for balanced builds

For detailed module recommendations per character, visit individual character pages and the module database.

Advanced Combat Tips

I-Frame Abuse

Ultimate animations grant invincibility frames. Use them to dodge lethal attacks while dealing damage.

Quick Swap Combo

Switch characters during skill animations to extend combos and stack buffs without losing DPS time.

Energy Management

Some characters generate energy for the team. Rotate through your party to charge ultimates faster.

Weakness Exploitation

Enemies have type weaknesses. Match your DPS Esper Type to the enemy weakness for a 20% damage bonus.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best team composition?
A balanced team has 1 Main DPS, 1 Sub-DPS, and 1 Support. The best F2P team is Nanally (DPS) + Haniel (Support) + Sakiri (CC/Buffer). For whale teams, add Jiuyuan for burst damage.
How do elemental reactions work?
When two different Esper types hit the same enemy, they trigger an elemental reaction for bonus damage. For example, Cosmos + Anima creates a "Blossom" reaction that deals AoE damage.
What is the Module system?
Modules are equipment sets that give bonus effects. Each character can equip 4 modules. Matching 2 or 4 pieces from the same set activates set bonuses. Farm modules from the Module Domain.
How do I build a character for maximum damage?
Focus on their primary stat (ATK for DPS, DEF for tanks, HP for healers). Use the Build Planner tool to see recommended weapons, modules, and stat priorities for each character.
